I’d love to take this opportunity to introduce the new and improved vieleong.com, a testament to better and more quality blogging. This isn’t solely a redesign, it’s an entire rebrand.

I took a hiatus from blogging for several reasons, the main one being to seek and regain clarity on the direction I wanted my blog to take. I felt myself straying further and further from the authenticity and personality I wanted my blog to portray as I succumbed more to obligation than sheer desire, writing posts because I felt I had to, rather than actually wanting to. It reached a dire point where I had to decide whether to step up, or stop blogging altogether.

So I took the time to step back and redefine my values, of where I wanted to go and who I wanted to be, blogging-wise. After several months of pushing and pulling over countless cups of coffee with multiple dashes of cinnamon (the coffee and spice trade probably benefitted highly from this), I chose to venture back into blogging, with a strong focus on higher quality work. My commitment was further fortified the day I put down a significant sum of money for a few improvements which have helped tremendously — and I now look at them as investments, be it monetary or personal, but only because I want to.

I want to start treating blogging like an art, as well as a business. My lifestyle has changed considerably since I last posted pre-relaunch, and I believe that has its own merits and contribution to this as well. Given my schedule these days, I no longer have the time to dabble as I do have quite a bit on my plate, but I’m more than happy to say that all my pursuits have been carefully selected and are aligned with what I want to do.

The journey is what matters in the end. I want this blog to grow with me, and now that I’m at a point where I’ve much more clarity, coupled with the drive for it to be a bigger part of my life, I feel that I can now take it along with me as I learn and grow. It’s something I want to build and nurture over time, together with myself. I want this blog to truly reflect my life and the stages I go through, thus the relaunch, which is also in and of itself a milestone, timed beautifully yet inadvertently for the month of March, my birth month. Serendipity, as they say.

Thank you to everyone who has read and supported vieleong.com over the years. Despite my sporadic posts back then, I still noticed a consistent influx of readers and visitors whom I’m genuinely thankful for, and I hope that I can now give back by sharing the beauty I see in the world with you.

With love,
Shevie
